The court ruled in favor of Calgary's rezoning bylaw, which aims to increase housing density in residential areas. A group of Calgary residents challenged the bylaw, claiming the city lacked the authority to implement it and that the public hearing process was unfair. However, the judge found that the city's decision was valid and that the public hearing process, including the involvement of councillor Gian-Carlo Carra, was fair. The applicants may still appeal the decision, but for now, the city will continue processing applications for new housing developments under the new bylaw.
